This week we’re excited to feature a blog post by Kelsi Butler, the owner of Wilderness Yoga Company. We are thrilled about partnering with Kelsi to offer unique yoga experiences, including rooftop yoga in downtown Boone here at The Horton Hotel and Rooftop Lounge. We hope you enjoy reading Kelsi’s story. She offers something great for both locals and travelers alike, and that’s something we can get behind!
Meet Kelsi, the owner of Wilderness Yoga Company!
Hey friends! I’m Kelsi Butler. I am the founder of Wilderness Yoga Company in Boone, North Carolina. Wilderness Yoga Co. transcends the confines of traditional yoga studios, connecting mind, body, and spirit with the natural world through mountain yoga escapes. Guests enjoy a serene hike on a local mountain trail. We finish with an outdoor yoga practice and guided meditation. Wilderness Yoga Co. offers yoga-hikes seasonally during the months of April through October.
I began practicing yoga and meditation 13 years ago when I was living in Charlotte, North Carolina. I fell in love with the practice, the mind-body connection, and the groundedness that it offered. In 2012, I completed my 200-hour Baptiste Yoga Instructor certification to deepen my practice. My certification was an amazing experience, followed immediately by an impetuous move to Boone, North Carolina.
From Charlotte to Boone, North Carolina
Why Boone? Because it’s beautiful! I was drawn to the mountains of Western North Carolina for many years before deciding to make the move. Upon moving here, I became an avid hiker, backpacker, trail runner, hammocker, wildflower-smeller, sun-soaker-upper, and all-around lover of the great outdoors. It was in 2017 that I found myself longing for more of this. I wanted more time beneath the trees, more mountain sunsets, more slow living. With this ideal as my guide, I launched the Wilderness Yoga Company.
New to hiking or yoga? No problem! Wilderness Yoga is about communing with nature. There is no other agenda, and there are no prerequisites. Come as you are, flow in your body, and tune in to the world around you. As a yoga instructor, I create a safe, open space for exploration, connection, and growth. I integrate the elements – Air, Earth, Fire, Water – into practice through a combination of vinyasa flow, restorative yoga, and meditation. My hope for Wilderness Yoga Co. is that it will provide you with an opportunity to experience nature in a new way: to get outside, get connected, and find yourself on a mountain.
Rooftop yoga at the Horton
This year, I am excited to announce that Wilderness Yoga will be partnering with the Horton Hotel to bring ROOFTOP YOGA to Downtown Boone! Come enjoy yoga and meditation on the rooftop of the Horton, overlooking the beauty of small-town Boone, nestled within the Blue Ridge Mountains.
If there’s one thing that stands true for this amazing, entrepreneurial community – we are stronger together. I am always excited to collaborate with fellow business owners and believe that it is what makes Boone such a magical place. We hope you can join us for this special collaboration in Summer 2019!
