The Only Downtown Boone Hotel

We are proud to be the only boutique hotel & rooftop bar in downtown Boone. Located on King Street across from the iconic Mast General Store, you can’t beat our walkable location. All of Boone’s restaurants, shopping, and the Appalachian State Campus are within blocks. The Horton Hotel combines the rich history of Boone with the comforts and fine amenities of a boutique hotel.

Stunning Mountain Views

Enjoy breathtaking views of Howard’s Knob, Appalachian State, and downtown Boone from our rooftop bar & hotel. Cozy up next to our fire pit and sip a handmade craft drink while taking in the beauty of the mountains or relax in one of our 15 new guest rooms. We believe in preserving our rich local history and each of our hotel rooms are uniquely decorated and reflect the local vibe.

Hotel History

Built by H.W. Horton in the 1920s, our historical building honors the traditions of our small town while providing a unique boutique experience. The original Horton building was both a Studebaker dealership and a Spainhour’s Department Store. We aim to continue the Horton legacy as a great place to gather and enjoy friends, drinks, views, and the finer things.

Fulton graduated from ASU in 1981 with a BSBA majoring in Finance, Economics & Banking. Denise was born in Chicago, fell in love with Fulton and the mountains, and has been living
in Boone for 21 years. They are thrilled to create a
unique place to stay, with a historically hip vibe, where people can feel at home.

Andrea was born in Atlanta, GA and spent eight years in Savannah obtaining her degree and working as an innkeeper and a wedding coordinator. She came to Boone a little over a year ago, after getting married in Valle Crucis. When the opportunity to be a part of Boone’s first boutique hotel presented itself, she could not wait to be involved! She mostly looks forward to being a gracious hostess to each guest that walks through the door.
