Decorating for the holidays can seem daunting. Either decorating is your thing or it isn’t. Perhaps you’ve already decked the halls in preparation for the season. Maybe you’re looking to add a few perfect finishing touches. Or maybe you’re a bit of a procrastinator (like me) and haven’t even started yet. It happens, right? Regardless, we’ve rounded up a few holiday decorating tips to help you finish making everything extra festive right before Christmas, the Horton way!
A warm welcome
We’re all about the entrance. At the Horton Hotel we strive to make every guest feel special when they walk through our front door. A kind greeting is essential, but we also think the little things can make a huge difference. We like to keep our lights down to a soft and cozy glow, and we’ve paid careful attention to the holiday accent colors in our lobby. We suggest choosing seasonal decor that enhances and compliments the colors in your space. There are many ways that you can create your very own warm welcome aesthetic during the holiday season.
Perfect your lighting
Rich golden and soft white hues invoke thoughts of warmth, so we recommend perfecting your lighting. Whether you’re adding a few lanterns to your front stoop, or a miniature tree wrapped in twinkle lights (see the photo below), these little details can make all the difference. If you prefer to keep most decorations inside, you can opt to add a few twinkle lights and candles to your front entryway instead. The soft glow will make for a nice greeting when guests walk through your front door.
More greenery
We recommend working in as much fresh greenery as possible this time of year. Never underestimate the power of a beautiful wreath. Wreaths come in all shapes, sizes, and colors so we’re sure you’ll be able to find something perfect for you. Add other pops of greenery throughout your home for an added sense of festivity. Drape some garland across your mantle. Go for a minimalist look and keep it plain. Or add twinkle lights to invoke those feelings of warmth. Layer your garland and add ornaments for an elegant, full, and glamorous vibe.
Wrap with a natural look
Gifts are part of your decorations, too. They’re one of the first things people notice right after they see your tree. One of our favorite trends this holiday season is wrapping gifts with a natural look. We love simple, earthy, neutral wrapping paper. Add a pretty ribbon and tuck a few sprigs of greenery under the bow. Opt for a variety of greenery and think outside the box. Sprigs of fresh pine look great of course, but we also love soft greens like eucalyptus.
