Wroof! Get ready to discover dog friendly Boone… we’ve listed our 4 favorite spots to bring your buddy. Because guess what, Boone loves dogs! The sassy Yorkshire, friendly Labrador, and the helpful Shepherd: they all love to roam our trails, parks and downtown streets. From restaurants to dog parks, we can help you have a fun afternoon with your furry friends.
1. A little exercise in the Humane Society Dog Park
The only dog park in Boone! A great place for dogs who like to run for miles. This park has a huge expanse of land to run, and there is also a small dog park for your little four-legged friends. You can access the park by buying a day pass or a membership, which you can only buy when the humane society is open (they are open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:30 PM to 5 PM, closed on Mondays).
2. Walk on the wild side: rocks and waterfalls on the Boone Fork Trail
This trail is probably the most fun for dogs that are up for an adventure. They can climb rocks, splash in the river, and run over rolling hills. The only downside is that you have to keep your dog on a leash.
3. Share a bite at Coyote Kitchen
A dog-friendly restaurant and amazing food – double wroof! Coyote Kitchen has a brand new porch where you and your dog can kick back after an exhilarating hike. Order yourself a delicious ‘boat’ – their awarded personal casserole dishes in a boat shape! – or pick one of their other Caribbean soul food dishes. The staff won’t hesitate to bring out a water bowl for your dog (inevitably followed by some enthusiastic petting).
4. The Pet Place: dog shopping heaven and Boone’s best pet store
Check out the Pet Place in Boone for shopping with your dog: a locally owned pet store staffed with employees that love animals, and provide advice that is actually useful. They have a great selection of locally made dog treats and other high-end pet foods. After a long day of exploring the high country, give your dog a spa treatment in the washing area and top things off with a cute collar.
